Like Bigfoot, the Yowie has evaded capture on film or any physical evidence that satisfies scientific scrutiny, making it a fascinating subject for cryptozoologists and a captivating mystery for the locals.

From Words to Videos: My Journey into YouTube Content Creation

Hello fellow adventurers,

This evening, I want to talk about launching my YouTube channel, which accompanies this blog. I'll share what led up to it and why I decided to venture into content creation at this stage in my life.

Blogging has evolved significantly since I last created content daily. These days, you have support systems like social media channels, YouTube, and TikTok, just to name a few. Back in what might as well be called the Jurassic period of the internet, we had none of that. It was a hard slog, and often, you wouldn't make it because relying solely on words and a few pictures was incredibly challenging. You either had what people were looking for, or you got nowhere.

I was among those who endured that long, hard slog but eventually found myself on a deserted backroad on the far-flung side of the internet universe. Realizing I didn't have what people were looking for, I walked away.

Fast forward to now—some 28 years since I last blogged. Battling with depression, sometimes you find yourself trying weird ways to cope. This round of depression has been the longest and hardest battle I've ever faced. Yet, even in the darkest moments, I kept telling myself that things would get better because I still had too much to live for.

My daily routine involves checking emails and news as soon as I wake up. Then, it's off to Facebook and YouTube while enjoying my morning coffee. This has been my routine since October 2016 when I discovered the Safari Live (now Wild Earth) channel on YouTube.

What a difference one small inspiring stream can make in a person's life. Yet, it wasn't then that I decided to get into YouTube content creation. It was the many gaming channels on YouTube that began steering me in that direction. Initially, I thought gaming would be my niche because it made sense—I love playing games, so why not share that? However, I realized that constantly playing games could become boring and I couldn't dedicate 100% of my time, so a gaming channel was out of the question for my main YouTube focus.

To make a long story short, I took a different direction when I decided to begin blogging again. I figured I would make videos on similar topics found here in this blog, but I soon realized that could become mundane. That's when inspiration struck. A channel offering generic shorts about mysteries from around the world, asking for viewer interaction via comments, seemed like the way to go.

The first short I released was on The Lost Colony of Roanoke. In the first 24 hours after posting, it garnered 455 views. It only managed to attract 3 subscribers, but hey, that was three more people interested in what I have to say than the day before.

I never imagined I would be a genuine content creator on YouTube, but the channel analytics from the past three days show that it's worth my time. People are genuinely interested in mysteries that not only pose questions but also share some history.

I don’t know where this is going, but hopefully, it’s straight up.

In March of 2016, my world shattered with the sudden loss of my mother. Her parting words, "You have fun," echoed in my mind, a bittersweet reminder of her vibrant spirit. Amidst the darkness of grief, an unexpected beacon of light emerged, guiding me through the wilderness of sorrow.

One fateful October night, amidst the depths of despair, I stumbled upon a virtual sanctuary: Safari Live, a live feed from the wilds of South Africa. Led by the charismatic guide Tayla, the journey through the African bushveld became a lifeline, offering solace and distraction from the ache in my heart. Through the lens of Facebook and YouTube, I found myself immersed in the wonders of the untamed world, finding solace in the untamed beauty that stretched before me.

As I delved deeper into this virtual safari, I forged connections not only with the intrepid presenters but also with the majestic wildlife that graced the screen. Among them was Karula, a legendary leopard matriarch whose grace and strength captured my imagination. Her passing left a void in the wilderness, but her legacy endured through her cubs, Hosana and Xongile. Their stories intertwined with mine, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the darkness.

Tragically, Xongile's fate remains unknown, lost to the vast expanse of the wilderness. But it was the untimely demise of Hosana that truly broke me. His playful antics and unique bond with his presumed father touched hearts worldwide, including mine. His passing, a poignant reminder of life's fragility, left an indelible mark on my soul.

Hosana's story took a tragic turn when he fell victim to the very hands assigned to protect these magnificent creatures. Shot and killed by game wardens, his death served as a stark reminder of the threats faced by wildlife in an increasingly uncertain world.

Despite the pain, Hosana's legacy endures. His spirit lives on in the hearts of those who followed his journey, a testament to the profound impact of wildlife on our lives.

Though I can no longer bear to watch full episodes or join live drives, I remain connected to the lives of these wild characters. Their stories, intertwined with my own, serve as a reminder of the healing power of nature and the enduring bonds forged in the wilderness.

Hello, fellow adventurers. Today, let's embark on a journey through the shadows of depression and explore the strategies that have helped me weather its storms.

For years, depression has been a familiar companion, weaving in and out of my life's narrative. But in 2022, the tides shifted. Loss struck close to home as my bestie and I mourned the departure of loved ones – my half-sister, then just 10 months later my full-blood sister. While I rejoiced in their newfound peace, grief weighed heavy on my heart.

Returning to the Pilbara after my sister's funeral, the stark reality hit me: I was the sole survivor of the immediate family I had grown up with. The void echoed loudly, amplifying the solitude of my existence. Financial struggles compounded the anguish – bills piled up, and the cost of living in the Pilbara weighed heavily on my fixed income.

But amid the darkness, glimmers of hope emerged. I'm here to share some of the lessons I've learned in navigating the depths of depression:

1. Seek Support: When those heavy clouds of despair roll in, reaching out for a helping hand can make all the difference. Whether it's a heartfelt chat with a trusted friend, a comforting hug from a loved one, or seeking guidance from a compassionate professional, know that you're not alone on this journey. For me, having someone to talk to, to share my burdens with, has been like a beacon of hope cutting through the darkness.

2. Embrace Self-Care: In the midst of the storm, treating yourself with kindness and compassion can be a lifeline. Engage in activities that nourish your soul and bring a smile to your face. Whether it's losing yourself in the vibrant strokes of a paintbrush, capturing the beauty of the world through the lens of a camera, or immersing yourself in the whimsical world of gaming, find what brings you joy and make it a priority. For me, sinking my toes into the cool embrace of the ocean waves or losing track of time in the fantastical realms of a PC game has been like medicine for the soul.

3. Establish Routine: Creating a sense of structure amidst the chaos can provide a comforting anchor. Set small, achievable goals for yourself and celebrate each tiny victory along the way. Whether it's starting your day with a peaceful morning walk, indulging in a creative outlet, or simply taking a moment to breathe and reflect, find rituals that ground you and infuse your days with purpose.

4. Stay Active: Movement has a way of lifting the spirits and easing the weight on your shoulders. Whether it's a leisurely stroll in nature, a rejuvenating yoga session, or dancing like nobody's watching to your favorite tunes, find ways to get your body moving and your heart singing. For me, there's something magical about the rhythm of the ocean waves or the gentle sway of tree branches in the breeze that reminds me of the beauty and resilience of life.

5. Practice Mindfulness: In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, carving out moments of stillness and presence can be profoundly healing. Engage in mindfulness practices like deep breathing, meditation, or simply taking in the sights and sounds of the world around you. For me, there's a sense of peace that washes over me when I stand barefoot on the earth, feeling the pulse of nature beneath my feet and the vastness of the universe above.

6. Limit Stress: Identify sources of stress in your life and take proactive steps to minimize their impact. Set boundaries, delegate tasks when possible, and prioritize activities that bring you peace and joy. Remember, it's okay to say no and to prioritize your well-being above all else. For me, finding moments of serenity amidst the chaos – whether it's savoring a quiet cup of tea or escaping into the pages of a good book – has been like a soothing balm for my soul.

Remember, dear adventurers, that it's okay to lean on these strategies when the road gets rough. And above all else, be gentle with yourself, for you are navigating the twists and turns of life with courage and grace.

NAVIGATING LIFE'S TWISTS AND TURNS: A JOURNEY THROUGH THE PILBARA AND BEYOND

Hey there, wonderful readers! As I dive back into the world of blogging, I'm buzzing with ideas to keep you all captivated. While I aim to post daily, you might notice several entries marked April 12th, 2024 – a little content marathon, because, well, stories wait for no one.

For the past five years, I've been the Operations Manager for an Indigenous Australian art group. My best friend, who I've known for 16 years now, was my boss there. Last year, we made the tough decision to leave due to some uncontrollable behind-the-scenes issues. Things got pretty ugly afterward – the rumors spread about us were outrageous, humiliating, and downright hurtful. But hey, we're taking the high road and trying to move past it all.

We decided to start our own business, a partnership doing much of what we'd been doing for the past five years, but with more control. However, as they say, the best-laid plans often go awry. Financial struggles have plagued us for the past few months, and since my sister's passing last May, I've been battling depression too. But hey, I'm not one to dwell on misfortune, and neither is my bestie. So, we're both currently on the job hunt, fingers crossed.

Our plan is to supplement our income and run our business on the side for now. Once our finances stabilize, we'll consider transitioning to full-time entrepreneurship.

In the meantime, depression and plenty of free time make a person want to dive into distractions. As for me? You already know I love creating art, photography, and gaming. Right now, I'm hooked on Stranded Deep, a survival game where you're marooned on an island. I'm taking my time exploring the islands and enjoying my cozy island home, surrounded by sharks. Yep, I'm in no hurry to leave just yet. I'll share more about this in future posts, along with some screenshots from my game.

Other games I'll likely talk about soon include House Flipper, Hotel Renovator, and similar titles.

I'm also kicking off my own YouTube channel soon, featuring gameplay videos. Most will be ASMR, but I might throw in some live streams or voice-over videos too. Stay tuned for updates on the channel's launch!

Now, let's talk about the Pilbara. For those unfamiliar, it's a remote region in the northwest of Western Australia, where I currently reside. It's hot, arid, and when it rains, it's cause for celebration – you'll likely find me dancing outside in the rain.

The Pilbara offers everything you could want – warm Indian Ocean waters, pristine beaches, red dirt, hills, thrilling 4x4 adventures, excellent fishing, and yes, even sharks. As an animal lover, I find sharks fascinating. Seeing them in the wild here has been nothing short of amazing. Sure, they can be intimidating, but they're also incredibly graceful creatures. I'll never forget the majestic hammerhead we spotted while fishing at Cossack – pure magic.

Seeing that shark was awe-inspiring for me. I had always loved the hammerhead shark; its unique shape just shows how wonderful creation truly is. The way it effortlessly glided through the water, its distinctive head cutting through the waves – it was a sight to behold. It reminded me of the beauty and complexity of the natural world, and how lucky we are to share this planet with such magnificent creatures.
